Now my hook;

My father had been deported during my sophomore year. I have 2 younger brothers. My mom has been hit hard by supporting us and i hav had to pick up a load too because of my bros. I had to get a hardship license, and I hav basically been acting in place of my dad while juggling my studies. Freshmen and sophomore yr my Weighted GPA was 3.4 and 3.65 now Junior yr 4.18 and 4.2 even with my father gone.. I have taken the hardest courses each yr...although i struggled freshmen yr i hav shown significant improvement.

Is this enough for me, even though i lack in so many areas?

Honestly I don’t see how that is much of a “hook”. There are thousands of kids who are raised by single parents. Your academics aren’t horrible, but you should definitely try to raise your SAT score. Unless you can write a great essay explaining what you learned from your hardship and how it made you a better person, it isn’t going to help you that much.

I think that your personal story, and the burdens that you have had to undertake because of your family situation, might help (to some extent) to balance out your less than stellar GPA. Unfortunately, your ACT and SAT scores are extremely low for GU, and I don’t think that your personal hardships will be as much of a counterweight on that front. Anything is possible, so if you want to go to GU you should definitely apply, but it is a high reach for you and I would definitely have a Plan B and Plan C.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. I wouldn’t even really call that a “hook.”

Also, if you do apply to Georgetown you will need one more SAT subject test.
