Will my Math 2 score hurt my chances at Rice?

<p>I'm a white, middle class female in NY. Both of my parents have gone to college, and my dad has his master's, but my parents are divorced (not sure if)</p>

<p>I plan on going into Chemical Engineering with either a minor or double major in Computer Science
My SAT scores:
CR: 640
Math: 670
Writing: 730
Total: 2040</p>

<p>SAT II:
Chemistry: 750
US History: 750
Math II: 660</p>

<p>Average:
My transcripts don't give unweighted, but it's 100.6 weighted. I'm 12th in my class of over 360 students.</p>

<p>All honors/APs in 9th, 10th, 11th
AP scores:
World History, 10th- 4
US History, 11th- 5
Chemistry, 11th- 4
Lit, 11th- 3</p>

<p>I took classes offered by local colleges in 11th:
SUNY Spanish: 4.0
SUNY Algebra: 4.0
SUNY Trig: 4.0</p>

<p>Classes I'm taking this year:
AP Lang
AP Calc
AP Bio
AP Gov't
Physics Honors
Conversational Spanish</p>

<p>ECs:
-Varsity Track for 9/10/11/12

-Being an Informed, Active Student club for 9/10
-Math Honors Society for 10/11/12

-I had a summer job the summer before my senior year
-NYS Scholar Athlete for 9/10/11 </p>

<p>I got a free application from Rice, had an interview, and did a campus tour/info session/overnight visit. My commonapp essay is about my dad's severe motorcycle accident, and my supplement will be about how I taught myself how to program because my school doesn't offer classes.</p>

<p>I'm concerned about my SAT scores (retaking) and Math 2 score. I'm good at math (2 of my letters of rec come from math teachers), so I'm really nervous and upset about my score.
Any insight would be wonderful! Thanks!</p>

<p>Hi, I’m applying to Rice, too (Early Decision). We have pretty similar stats. I got a 660 on the Math 2 SAT II as well. I’m not sweating it. I’m interested more in humanities and social sciences, and I believe my credentials reflect that. Still, I am taking the SAT again in November to try to boost my SAT. Do you worry because Rice has really high math scores? I do!! We both are a little under the mid-50% at Rice. I did much better on the ACT.</p>

<p>Simply said, yes they will. When it comes to SAT scores, you should aim for 700+ for them not to hurt, and 750+ for them to help. This is especially true since you are an engineering major.</p>

<p>I’m not going to comment on all your activities and resume because you didn’t ask for that, but a SAT II score should NEVER keep you from applying anywhere. Show passion and show knowledge and show fun.</p>
