Will my SAT score affect my chances of getting into college

I took the SAT w/ writing back in June I believe. I got a really low score, a 1370. I want to know how much this will affect my chances of getting accepted, and how much it would affect my chances of getting a WUE "scholarship" deal for out of state. A majority of the colleges want a 1100 or higher but without writing my score is only a 890. I'm taking the SAT again this Saturday (10/5) and I hope to get a "passing" score. I have studied so hard but I'm just not good with tests. My GPA is decent (3.8) and I am involved in a lot of extracurricular activities. My problem is that according to my school "over 50% of students have a 4.0 GPA or higher." All the colleges I've applied to are out of state and public.

To what colleges did you apply?

You are a solid candidate for lots of Western schools.

3.8 is a solid GPA and suggests a much higher SAT. Good luck on Saturday - remember to relax. Try the ACT if you still have time. It is a very different test and may show a different side of you.

It depends on where you apply. Good luck on your SAT!!

Thanks so much :)

Thank you for the input. I know my GPA does suggest a higher score but I’ll just try my best again.
