Will my SAT score affect my chances of getting into college

I took the SAT w/ writing back in June I believe. I got a really low score, a 1370. I want to know how much this will affect my chances of getting accepted, and how much it would affect my chances of getting a WUE "scholarship" deal for out of state. A majority of the colleges want a 1100 or higher but without writing my score is only a 890. I'm taking the SAT again this Saturday (10/5) and I hope to get a "passing" score. I have studied so hard but I'm just not good with tests. My GPA is decent (3.8) and I am involved in a lot of extracurricular activities. My problem is that according to my school "over 50% of students have a 4.0 GPA or higher." All the colleges I've applied to are out of state and public.

Your SAT score does affect your chances, based on what schools you may be applying to. However, there are plenty of (WUE) schools that find 1370 acceptable. And with a small improvement even more would be within your range.

So relax, and good luck on your test on Saturday!

For most schools that require SAT/ACT, your score would be one of the main factors in the admission process.
