Will my schedule be an overwhelming first semester at UF/a university?

I will be a transfer student at UF. So it’s not like it’s my first time being in a college setting, but my CC babied us and I could take max credits or near that and receive an A in each course.
I asked an advisor, but she didn’t really tell me if it would be too rough on me.

I’m going to be a biology major with CLAS. I have taken orgo and all my critical tracking courses, but I’ve yet to take physics. Advisors told me I could hold off on that until next semester.

So far I signed up for:

[ul][] Biology of Microorganisms and lab
[
] Genetics
[] Introduction to Spanish (apparently they don’t count your high school Spanish - I took two years in high school)
[
] Python for Biology (online)[/ul]

This totals 16 credits, while it’s not a max load, it will also be my first semester at UF (and in Gainesville). I don’t know if anyone has any recommendations on what to do?

I apologize for not being able to contribute to your question, but could you please elaborate on your third class?

Why did they not accept two consecutive years of a high school foreign language?

I ask because I’m also a transfer student and a foreign language is something I don’t want to have to worry about.

@IAmSparkz CLAS has a “college level” language requirement for graduation. Your HS classes don’t count, but they will count AP credit, etc…

Ah ok, this is a CLAS thing.

I was worried for a moment there; thought I misread the Engineering Transfer requirements.

Thanks @Gator88NE

@IFeedCats: no, it’s a perfectly good schedule, as long as you’re ready for the time commitment - but it sounds like you know what you’re doing and with A’s in your previous classes, you should adjust and do well.

It doesn’t look bad, you should be fine. I have a question though - I just got in as a Spring transfer as well and I thought that we couldn’t sign up until after orientation, or did you go to the earlier orientation besides the one on January 4th? Can we walk into the advisor’s office before orientation and sign up for classes?

By the way, what do you do in regards with your old school? Do you just not show up for classes or something?
