Will my sport help get me in

Hi, I am a rising senior and actively being "LOOKED AT SERIOUSLY" by many colleges for sports recruitment. I am really excited about playing in college but think D3 is the place for me. I have an unweightd GPA of 3.64 and a total SAT score of 1830, I am taking 2 AP classes this coming year and have a lot of EC's

I am very interested in Bowdoin, Hamilton and Middlebury. Bowdoin would be my 1st choice

My question is will being recruited help with admissions? So far I have been asked to visit, nothing more

Thanks

There was a superb series of articles in the NY Times about 5 years ago on D3 recruiting. There was a follow-up series of articles within the past year. If you are at least in the ballpark academically, you can get help with admissions if you are a very good athlete. In the NESCAC, football coaches get 14 “slots”. All the other sports combined (men’s and women’s) get about 50-60 positions. The series of articles I’ve referenced spells it out. Try the following search string “haverford recruiting ny times Pennington”

Thanks I will, The coach did say that he would give me support. I will read it now, or search for it.

My son was recently admitted at Bowdoin and yes sports helped get him in. Has the coach submitted your transcipt and SATs for a pre-read? Once that happens you get put into a band: high, middle or low. Admissions defines that, and the coach is given so many in each category depending on the sport. Good luck, you are looking at some great schools!

Thanks, Yes I have sent all my info in and am going for a visit mid august and then hopefully again in the fall for an over nighter.I hope it works out, thank you.
