Will my UC Berkeley admission be rescinded?

Yesterday I got amazing news and was offered admission to UC Berkeley college of Letters and Science as a transfer student from a California community college. Unfortunately, this final semester in which I am currently attempting to finish my lower division studies came with personal struggles that has made me fail the first half of two of the classes I am taking this semester. These two classes are UCB reciprocity courses not IGETC or UC breadth courses. I don’t want my GPA to fall and make UCB rescind my admission, so I am thinking about dropping these courses and taking two Ws. Will this also make UCB rescind my admission offer, or is this a good answer to the predicament I find myself in. I don’t want to fudge this up as I am a first generation American and as such this is a huge opportunity for me and my family to get ahead in this country.

Can you still drop classes? It’s pretty late in the season for this, no?

@ProfessorPlum168 yes i can still drop classes. but i will receive a W. the last day to drop in my school is May 10th since the spring semester will end on June 7th.

Contact UCB admissions before dropping the classes and get their OK. If they are not major requirements, you should be fine but get this directly from admissions.

ok will do. ill report back on what they said in case others have same issue.

Hi what ended up happening ? I’m in a similar situation but maybe worse or better not too sure. Last quarter i finished all my major reqs and IGETC with B’s/A in English. However I got 1 D+ in an elective course that’s totally unrelated to my major (it was in programming and I’m doing poli econ as my major). Im currently retaking the class right now (this spring) so I can still meet the 3.0 requirement and my gpa grade will replace it before all transcripts are due. I also said I’d take programming python this quarter but decided to take another UC transferable course with similarit units instead (of course this is a super minor issue and taking a different elective that isn’t a major requirement compared to another elective is probably no issue). However the D seems worrying for me even though I’m retaking it. All my major classes have been completed for my major. Also I got into Berkeley with a 3.3 and a D in a math class last summer (and they still let me in!). It says I have until July 1st to update…is it better to update them then as I’ll know my grade in the course that I’m retaking this spring
