So my next semester will be my last at a CC and I just need to take 3 classes to get to 90 quarter units for UC Davis (I’m taking 2 prereq classes and an oral communication class for CSUs)
My question is if I submit my Tag to Davis saying I’m going to take just those 3 classes will my Tag be voided if I decide to take another class or 2 for more transferable units? Or am I good because I will be completing the classes I outlined in my Tag with just an added class. I’m saying this because I don’t know if my schedule will allow me to take 4/5 classes next semester so I’m just going with the safe 3 classes to get me to 90 units.
You need a minimum of 12 semester units for the Davis TAG, unless you are working a certain # of hours. If you’re working, before you submit just 9 units, I would email Davis TAG and get verification in writing that it won’t be invalidated. Otherwise, just add an easy course to hit 12 units.
If you submitted the TAG with 9 units, you might get rejected. You should let them know you can add a course, if needed. Davis has a full-time student rule for TAG.
I’m in the opposite situation. I only need to take 8 semester units next spring semester, and the UC Davis reps that were at my CC said to just include a a written in the comment box on the TAG application itself saying the reason for my part time schedule. My reason being that I will be auditing/reviewing classes on top of those 8 units.
That’s what told me me three years ago. They said it was fine and to TAG and not worry. I had six units and was working 28 hours. I was then rejected from TAG because I only had 6 units, although I got in via regular admission. I don’t trust that loophole. Be sure it’s in writing. My assurances were via phone.
@Ohm888 Thanks for the information. I will probably just go ahead and register for Vector Calc, a recommended course, to complete a full-time schedule. I don’t really mind taking a full-time load for the spring semester, I was just hoping to maybe audit/self-review a class instead. But it’s better to be certain that I will have satisfied everything after spring.
