Will My UCLA 2015 Acceptance Be Rescinded?

Hey all,

I was wondering if a schedule change has any significant bearing on whether my UCLA acceptance for the 2015-16 school year will be taken back or not.

I am currently a English-major sophomore at UC Davis (also on the quarter system) and for my spring schedule, I previously reported 4 (4 unit) classes, one of which I dropped just a day before I got my acceptance email.

When I called and asked if my acceptance will be rescinded, they said they couldn’t give me a straight answer, since it’s based on case by case basis.

The reason I dropped was because my family is going through a little bit of a financial rough patch, so I dropped a class to pick up more hours at my jobs to help pay a little for rent and stuff. I’m considering picking up a 2 unit class though so I would be at 14 units for the quarter.

I need UCLA to let me know as soon as possible so I can start preparing for housing next year and whether I should drop from my current apartment, etc

I’m honestly pretty stressed and freaked out about all this, if you guys could provide a little insight or maybe stories/past experiences you’ve heard about that would be really cool. Or whether my specific case will turn out okay.

Please and thank you.

Will you still have 60 units or more?
Do you need the class to complete GE requirements?
Is the class a major prereq?

If the answer to all of these questions is no, then it probably won’t matter.

If I pick up a 2 unit class, I will have 93 units by the end of the quarter/school year.
I have already finished my GE’s.
The class is a major class (an English class), does that fall into the category of ‘major prereq?’

Dropping an English class in any major could be negative, but as an English major, I think it’s worse.

Submit the change to UCLA asap. The sooner you submit the change the sooner they’ll respond. You’re looking at a turn around time of probably 2 weeks.

Will my financial situation and/or unit count be a case in my favor? Also, I’m actually an english philosophy double major at ucdavis and will declare my second philosophy major at ucla in the coming school year. I’ve taken plenty of English and philosophy classes at my university already.

Sh*t happens. It’s not a pre-req (you seem to indicate that) and you have the units. Hopefully your explanation suffices. I really don’t see why they would rescind, personally.

Good luck.
