I'm applying to Michigan out-of-state (Ohio)
2230 SAT taken once (if that makes any difference)
National Merit Semifinalist
UMich GPA: ~3.5
Top 10% of class (I think 27 out of 404)
AP US history: 4
taking 3 APs this year
decent ecs (can expound if needed)
I have gone through high school thinking I have a 4.0 GPA, and finally college applications supplied me a rude awakening. I had no idea that weighted classes don't mean anything on applications. I read on the university's website that more than 50% of accepted freshmen have a 3.9 or higher. Anyways, I submitted my application about 2 weeks ago.

Hmm probably deferral...your GPA is low and you don't have many APs (are you taking any related to math/science this year? that could increase your chances). Also Math SAT is not extremely high by engineering standards, though total score is decent. You have a chance, but a lot of people with decent to good SAT scores have been deferred because of a low GPA.

Thank you for the evaluations. I am taking Calc. BC, English Lit and Government AP tests this spring. Our school does not offer AP physics or chemistry courses, but I guess I could have done independent study.

I have pretty much the exact same stats as u, maybe a little higher (3.5 gpa, 2240 sat, 5 on ap history, and 4 APs senior year) and I was deferred so I'd say that's probably what you should expect.

so is gpa the end-all be-all for umich? i mean i have basically the same as matert tang seeing how we go to the same school. i have slightly better EC's and a 32 on the ACT but my GPA is around the same at matert tangs. so are we both ****ed?

IMPOSTER mastatttttang you get out of my thread before I drive my apacheroflcopter over to your house and drop a bomb. And yes, we are both *ed. But oh well, everything will be alright.
