Will my VERY STRONG upward trend help?

Freshman Year: 2.6 first semester / 2.8 second semester (no ap’s offered)
Sophomore Year: 3.2uw/3.3w first semester / 3.7uw/3.8w second semester (one ap - only one offered)
Junior Year: 4.0uw/4.4w first semester / 4.0uw/4.4w second semester (3 ap’s)
Senior Year: planning for same stats as junior year

I would love to attend USC, it’s my dream school. (Communications)

Other factors:

2250 SAT / 33 ACT
Many great, well rounded EC’s
Creative, solid essay
International student, Female

Do I have a chance of getting in to schools with same standing as USC with scholarships as well? Can’t really afford it without aid.

I think you will do well in the process if you develop a balanced list of schools. USC is a reach for almost everyone. Your upward trend is good, your SAt is excellent. I suggest the guidance counselor mention the loss of your mother, because that is a major trauma and helps explain your grades in 9th.

As an international student, financial aid will be very limited. USC is extremely expensive (~$70K per year).

Most schools have a GPA requirement for their scholarships. If you can find a school that will accept your test scores, you should apply.

You will struggle to get financial aid as an int’l student at most schools, but with your stats and justification for lower GPA, you should find a school that will accept you (even if it isn’t USC).
