Will ND go to their waitlist?

congratulations to all of those who recently found out…hope you all attend.

you may also want to start planning for orientation weekend. a friend of mine who also will be attending recently called the Inn at St. Mary’s (a really popular hotel), and found out that it was all booked, so you may want to act fast

I just got an e-mail this morning… I’M IN! International Student, I’m so happy! I think my mom is even more excited than I am, hahaha. I’m definitely going, see you all there!

XxMint – are you a transfer application, or regular freshman for Fall 2009?

so, is ND done with their waitlist? thanks.

…kinda wondering the same thing. they went into the pool at least twice. what does that mean?

if they did go twice (the first being 5/5 and the second being 5/12 - these are rough guesses), then they had to wait until 5/15 to see if the second batch accepts their acceptance, and if there is a third round, then it would probably happen today or tomorrow I would assume.

Just checking in and I wanted to mention that my daughter was told on Wednesday the 6th that she was being granted admission off the wait list BUT that she had until May 15th to make her decision. She received her (very generous) financial aid package two days (on a Friday the 8th) after notice of admission. Though we made our decision once we had the finaid, Notre Dame was great in giving us time to weigh the decision.

My point here is that the 15th has come and gone and ND Admissions now knows who accepted their offer and they can move on the list. I wouldn’t say it is over by any means.

Good luck to all still waiting for the good news.

My d also got called on the 6th and received a generous aid package on the 8th which we accepted! We are very hopeful that ND will go to the 2nd wave of their waitlist, so my D’s friend may get in. Has anyone talked to their ND rep or admissions and asked if they would take more students off the waitlist? From reading last years posts, they did go to the 2nd wave on the waitlist.

Initially, I would assume that they probably will, but by as demonstrate by those on this forum, it appears that most are accepting the offer…however, if you are not accepting the offer, you probably would not post it, so hope is probably still alive.

For the first wave, I believe they started admitting on a Wednesday. Should they choose to undergo a second wave, maybe they’ll do the same thing this time and start today. I’m also hoping to receive good news, so I completely understand what you all are going through. Today’s also my birthday! A call from good ol’ ND would probably be the greatest birthday present I’ve ever received. Best of luck to all!

Happy Birthday, and good luck to all of those still waiting for some good news

Hope you had a nice birthday. Have you contacted your ND admissions rep and asked if they will go to the waitlist for the 2nd wave? I know it helps to show interest!
Good Luck!

My D heard from admissions yesterday and they are still using the wait list. Admissions returned her call, as she had reached out to re-affirm her interest.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I actually emailed admissions yesterday, and I’ll definitely call today. Hopefully my interest shows, as Notre Dame is truly a dream. Also, Getty59, congratulations to your daughter! She must be walking on air after receiving such good news!

Or did they merely call to tell her that they’re heading to the second wave? I’m not sure which scenario to infer from your post. Either way, best of luck; I’ll keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Hopefully we’ll both be in South Bend next year.

Madgamer – They were not extending an offer in their call… just returning her call and affirmed they were still planning to use the wait list. It is so unclear how they select from WL, as they state they do not “rank” the list, so she reached out to reinforce the previous letter she had sent and those additional achievements.

Yeah, shown interest is pretty important for Notre Dame it seems. I essentially took the same route as your daughter; a while ago I sent a letter expressing my interest, updated them with additional achievements, and asked one of my teachers (a Notre Dame alumnus) to email a letter of recommendation. Recently I inquired as to whether or not they’ll do a second wave in an email, so hopefully this will all help.

I wonder when Notre Dame will start pulling kids for the second wave; I’m praying it’s soon.

Good luck Madgamer and Getty! Let us know! I would think it would be soon-maybe after this Memorial Day weekend? Thinking positive thoughts for you!

Just received the call. Notre Dame '13. I’m truly speechless and this is the happiest moment of my life. The admissions counselor mentioned that Notre Dame is looking at about 50 more from the waitlist, so there’s definitely still hope for all of still waiting. Best of luck!

Congrats!!! I’m sure you mightily relieved now and hope to see you.
Indeed, your best birthday present arrived.
