I just got scores back from the Jan SAT and I'm kind of shocked to be honest. When I took it in high school, I got CR 700, M 740, W 740 and CR 780, M 700, W 720, without any studying.

When I decided I wanted to transfer, I also decided to retake the SAT because I'm applying to a high caliber of schools and I wanted to do everything possible to help my chances. I studied for about 4 weeks leading up to the test, including taking 8 practice tests.

My scores this time around were CR 750, M 670, W 800. Obviously I'm thrilled with the writing grade but upset by the rest.

Will these scores cause adcoms to look badly upon my application? I'm applying to 2 schools where all scores need to be sent (no score choice policy), so I'm extremely worried that they will see these scores and not want to admit me.

Or will college grades in these classes (A in Calc 2, A in freshman english) override this? I know most schools superscore, but I'm worried that they will be put off by such low scores the third time around. I'm currently a freshman.

Like I said, I wanted to do everything in my control to make myself as competitive an applicant as possible, since I am applying to some Ivy League schools. Having not studied for the SAT previously, I believed I could considerably raise my scores if I did study. This was the case for writing, not for CR or math.

Well my superscore is a 2320, I’m just worried that the 670M will be a redflag. I understand that I’m lucky to have scored so high, but scoring so much lower than I normally did doesn’t really look all that great.
