I don’t like ceremonies, so I’m probably not going to my high school’s graduation ceremony. We have to rehearse for hours before the actual ceremony, and if my middle school graduation ceremony is any indication of what it’ll be like, it just seems like a waste of time. I also don’t want to pay for a gown & cap.
Is it necessary to go? If I don’t go, will I be missing out on anything or will there be any consequences?
example: I’m planning to transfer to a 4y college after 2 years of cc. Will whatever college I apply to in the future judge me for not going to the ceremony?
Colleges won’t know if you didn’t attend the ceremony. There wouldn’t be any consequences and the only thing you’ll miss out on is the sentimental stuff which it seems like you don’t really care for, so if you really don’t want to go you don’t have to go.
Just let school know so that they aren’t calling your name. It’s a rite of passage for you and your classmates. I know my classmates scattered to the wind after high school and I appreciate that last day together.
