It seems like most people here take higher math courses and after planning my schedule for senior year I will only get up to pre calculus and AP stats. So far what I have taken is
9th grade- Algebra 1
10th grade-Geometry
11th grade- Discrete Math, Algebra 2
12th grade- I am set to take AP stats, and pre calculus

My high school has no honors math courses and I can't do summer school because I have to work. I am not the best at math but with a lot of hard work I have been able to get A's in all the math classes I have taken.

Considering you’re “not the best at math” I assume you’re not planning on majoring in Engineering or Hard Sciences right? If that’s true then don’t worry about not taking calc. It might not be great if you’re trying to go to HYPS, but otherwise it’s not really problematic.

I have a similar situation - lets just say that we are applying to top-notch schools, maybe an Ivy or two. Are we ok…? Note that my major and talents would reflect the exact opposite of mathematics, and the subjects I’m interested in I have a very strong academic record with APs/honors, etc.

It depends on the schools you’re applying to and what your school offers.

If your school doesn’t offer AP Cal AB, then you should be fine. If your school doesn’t allow you to take summer work, then you should be fine.

But… I’m not taking AP Cal. Instead I am taking AP Stats. I took Pre-Cal this year, but I decided not to go onto AP Cal.

Besides… next year, you’ll be doubling up on mathematics courses anyways… it doesn’t look like you are slacking at all. I think that you should be fine.
