Hey, I am worried my C+ in honors pre-calculus (I messed up on the final) will hurt my chances into getting into my dream schools. I had a 4.5375 weighted GPA before this, and a 45/934 class rank (everyone above me is ranked #1 at my school). I don't have many ECs because I devote all of my time to one of them. I'm in NHS and the German NHS, and I run periodic food drives to benefit the Red Cross. My top 3 schools are Haverford, Penn State SHC, and Dartmouth (this is more of a reach and behind the other two). Behind them are Bucknell, Pitt, Muhlenberg, and Johns Hopkins (again more of a reach). Will this seriously hurt my chances into getting into these schools? I know Junior year grades are considered the most. I took 2 APs this year (Euro and German) and I will take 2 more in the fall (Bio and U.S. Hist.) But otherwise I am an all-honors and AP A student.

It’ll hurt your chances but not totally.

I need stronger essays to strentghen my applications. And if I apply ED to Haverford for example, I might be deferred to see my senior math grade and then make a decision. I have a feeling that that might happen.

I think that you should just apply and see what happens and not worry about it. Quite frankly, it’s not a good idea to constantly worry about the flaws that’ll be on your application when you can’t change them. If you’re that into a school you’d apply even if you had a small chance of getting in.

Yes my parents have been telling me that. thank you dchow08
