I don't want to seem melodramatic, but I'm starting junior year and I'm already slightly stressed out. Freshman year I got two A-'s and sophomore year I got straight A's (with all honors both years), but right now I feel like I might end up with around-B grades in two of my courses (Physics HN and Precalc w/Trig HN).

I've always struggled a little bit with science and math, especially math - however, if I worked hard, I'd end up with an A. For some reason that doesn't seem to be the case this year. I'm aiming to go to an in-state public Ivy League college, and I'm taking three AP courses and the fourth year of a foreign language along with HN Physics and HN Precalc.

My test scores and extra-curriculars are decent, so... advice or thoughts, please?

Edit: One of the main reasons I posted this is because the college I'm aiming for says that they take into account upward grade progression, or something like that. I'm afraid they'll judge my lower junior year grades harshly.

2 b’s isnt the end of the world… hell my junior year (last year) igot c’s and even f’s… just **** da police and I am trying hard this year (seinor)

Two Bs will not kill you. Of course, everything is relative. Nevertheless, colleges do like to see an upward trend. Select the one difficult course that you think you have the best chance of elevating to an A- and attack it. Get a tutor if you can. One B is a lot easier to explain than 2.

Also, if you plan on majoring in the Humanities, a couple of Bs in math and science will not be a deal breaker at most schools.

Remember the Adcomms will look at your application holistically, gpa is only one part. Keep up the work on ECs and don’t spend so much time and effort on the two tough courses that you dropped the ball on one of you A courses.

Write great essays next year. Best of luck.

Thank you! I do plan to major in English, and my extra-curricular activities and my test scores are skewed in that direction. Thanks again for the reassurance, I’ll do my best to continue excelling in what I’m good at (and trying to do better in the rest).

It depends on where you want to go. I nearly failed Trignometry junior year, but i’m not applying to any uber-competitive schools. But no, a coupple of B’s junior year shouldnt kill you so long as you’ve done alright otherwise.
