I finished high school with a sad 1.8 cumulative GPA. It was at very difficult private school tho and I’m confident in my ability to finish my two semesters at a community college with above a 3.5 gpa. How much will my high school grades effect their decision to let me in and is it possible for me to get in while doing so poor in high school
Probably not, some schools have minimum credits needed to transfer. Your high school grades and scores will also probably still be considered, along with your college GPA.
I woukd stay another year and keep your GPA up, you will have better transfer opportunities.
You would be applying for a 4 year college in the fall or right after the first semester, so you would either have no grades to show or only one semester of grades to show for your community college work. Or course if you do well for the first year there are some colleges that have openings in the summer so you could always apply then with evidence on how well you did in both semesters at the CC.
The minimum transfer requirement is 30 credits and I’ll meet that after a year at CC
Yes, but what @CheddarcheeseMN is saying is, the deadline (or recommended date) to apply for transfer to begin in the Fall semester at many 4-year colleges is around March 1. At that point, you will only have one semester of grades to show them, which may not be enough to prove your ability.
