Will phenomenal essays get you into Princeton?

Will it? Right now I'm at the fringe of rejection/ maybe with a 2200 and 3.8 gpa. I was wondering whether brilliant essays would improve my chances greatly into getting in? How much leverage do you guys think the essay holds on one's admittance to Princeton?

I'd say yes... as long as they truly are phenomenal. Not even highly creative and interesting essays are uncommon there, but two great ones are looked a lot more highly upon than a 2400 with decent essays. BTW, a 2200 isn't bad. Unless some of your scores are in the 600s, it's still in the range of Princeton students' scores.

how can we know for sure, I mean seriously

A 2200 is about average, so the score won't make you stand out, but if you do write phenomenal essays, then you'll definitely get a "second look." Plus if you're really good at writing, you should consider sending in a portfolio or something.

i doubt it still, they cant change the fact you have a low gpa or anything, its like saying you are a one shot wonder, and no one gets in with that.

It will get you noticed but you would have to have a specific talent as well.

Phenomenal Essays DO get people into Princeton. Only a small percentage of their students had the credentials to just state them and ride on in - most students there have stats just like you, and get in because they're essays, recs, and all the subjective crap is really good

^^ Truth ^^
