Will poor sophomore grades hurt my chances?

<p>I am a junior at a tough private school in San Jose, California. I was just wondering how important are sophomore grades for colleges? I did really badly in sophomore year for a variety of reasons such as family problems. But junior year, I have made it up so far with near perfect grades. </p>

<p>In sophomore year, I got 3.4 UC GPA weighted. But now, in junior year, I am getting in between 4.16 and 4.33 UC GPA.</p>

<p>Would poor sophomore grades hurt my chances at ivies,usc, and ucsd and ucla?</p>

<p>well you do have to submit all your final grades, but overall gpa is what counts the most</p>
