Will quitting a sport junior year impact college admissions?

I played football from 4th grade to sophomore year and I think I have finally lost interest in the game. As a rising junior, I am wondering if this will this make a huge impact in college admissions? Sports are a big part of my extracurriculars (I still do winter track and lacrosse). I just fear that since I have committed this many years in the sport that it would look better to continue playing.

I go to a private high school, which is one of the top sports schools in the state. Although I'm not bad, I'm certainly not the best football player. I don't plan on being recruited for football in college, so I deem that it is not necessary to play football anymore. I want to focus more on school, the SAT, and other extracurriculars.

I am leaning towards quitting football. What impact will that make?

You still play 2 other sports, so I am sure schools with understand you wanting to focus on your grades, etc. Plus, they are only looking at your high school accomplishments and can only see that you have played football for one year, not six

I think it would only hurt you if you quit midway through the season. If you use your free time to up your grades and test scores, it won’t matter that you have 1 less EC.

If you quit, then make sure to take advantage of the extra free time. If you raise your GPA and test scores, and do other extracurriculars as well, it will definitely make up for it.

Thanks for the responses. I will definitely use the extra time wisely.
