Will quitting my main volunteering "job" hurt my chances?

I've already applied to 5 UC's (LA, Cal, SD, SB, and Davis). I've been volunteering at a local hospital several hours a week for the past year, and it gave me plenty of volunteer hours to put down on my apps. I've actually really enjoyed the work, but my parents divorced in November, and life has gotten pretty overwhelming. For the sake of my sanity, I think I need to stop volunteering at the hospital so my life isn't so packed. I am sad about that fact, but I am also concerned about what kind of effect (if any) it could have on me getting into these schools. Would they call the hospital and see if I still was volunteering there? If the hospital said no, would it then be a mark against me?

Answers would be very much appreciated. :)

No.

Voluntarism isn’t that huge a factor

Even if it did matter, you have a legitimate excuse to stop volunteering.
