I think that Cornell have accepted far more ED applicants than last year.
Since, most of ED applicants will matriculate, does that mean RD applicants will have lower chance of getting acceptance?

where did that information come from? ED applications were up a very small amount, but that doesn't mean that more got accepted than last year. Where did you see that? Each class at Cornell is so large that even if you were right, an extra 100 acceptances ED won't change RD chances much at all.

Then I guessed wrong........ I live in South Korea and I saw far more people who got accepted to Cornell than last year's so I just assumed that they picked more applicants. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

you can't go based on CC estimates, you need actual facts. CC is skewed in the acceptance, I can bet my bottom dollar. I find it highly doubtful that rd will be much different from any other year

RD applicants always have a lower chance of acceptance...Cornell takes about 50% of the early applicats and 30% of the regular ones. Good luck!

yeah that's the point i was getting at, i dont think anyone was offended [i wasn't]. There are many reasons why it's not accurate to go off of the # of people accepted here.

I do think that RD applicants will be up slightly, but only b/c cornell just switched to the common app.

However, it really shouldn't change too much...

So about how much harder is Cornell RD than Cornell ED? Someone mentioned the 30% vs. 50%, but doesn't the RD pool tend to be worse?

Yah, with RD, you will have people accepted but they may not choose to matriculate for whatever reason. Because Cornell uses the Common Application, people might apply for the heck of it becasue they've already filled it out. Whereas in ED, the applicant pool is going to be a little tougher and more competitive.

Yep, ED percentages are always higher, but the applicant pool is also more competetive. As far as number of applicants go, I think it may be higher for RD than many expect because of the swtich to the common app. This may not have been seen in the ED statistics, but those who really wanted to go to cornell would do the app regardless of how hard it was. As for RD, some people who would be dissauded by huge apps might apply to cornell because the application isn't too bad.

Basically, it may not change much, but I see the acceptance rate percentages being a bit lower this year than last. I may be wrong, but that is my prediction.
