i am wondering if a SAT1 2050 will be enough for a such a great school. Or it will in some cases? Thanks

I looked on the website and found that for the class of 2011 the median SAT range was 1330-1510. So take a look at your math and CR and see if it falls within that range. Usually, the stats go up by year so it’s always better to be on the higher end.

But a school like rice definitely looks at way more than test scores!

we cant tell you what “enough”. Rice doesnt judge based on test scores and other factors are more or just as important as test scores. Just apply that all i have to say.

I got in with a 2050 SAT, but the rest of my application was definitely better than my SAT scores.

what is your scores on CR and MATH ?

yes I am also curious. I also have a 2050 on my sat and plan to apply to Rice. I have 1350 for v + m.

woa mike! that is the exact same as me,
although i took them again this October so hopefully my new score will be higher.

Retake as you need about 2150 to be safe.

There’s no such thing as ‘safe’ unless you’re pretty spectacular. An SAT score alone isn’t going to cut it.

From what I have heard from the board, Rice looks at the Writing Section the same.

to tell you the truth, there’s no way you can judge your admission chances only by your SAT score.

What about your extracurriculars, GPA, class rank, awards and essays? Rice considers things holistically, so if you’re a good student in overall, you should have a good chance.

Hope the admissions process goes well for you!

An admissions officer I spoke with told me Rice does ** not ** look at the writing section when evaluating applicants.

Would a 1460 be safe?

The SAT I writing section is a bit of a joke. The best writers get moderate essay scores, while formula writers get the highest scores. Most important to know your SAT I math & cr scores, any SAT II scores & subjects, AP scores & subject, what you want to study, GPA & class rank & what state are you from.
Post #13: A 1460/1600 might be safe if the rest of your application matches your impressive SAT I scores.

i called rice admissions and the woman said that math and cr are more important than writing but a high writing score will help you while a low one will hurt.
heck, rice even puts statistics of the writing section on its admission website. 52 percent of applicants with 750-800 scores get in, 38 percent with 700-740.

why would rice admissions put that on its website if it did not care about the sat writing section?
