Recently on the SAT i got a 760 in Math and a 690 in Reading (1450/1600). Im happy with this score and feel somewhat confident in applying to brown at least. But my Writing score was a 640.

So how badly is a 640 in Writing on the SAT going to affect my chances at Brown. Is it still worth applying? Is it worth applying to any top school? (My SATIIs are all midd 700s, UW 3.94 GPA, and many APs)

…i didnt mean it like that. when i said at least, i wasnt referring to brown itself. i was referring to being somewhat confident in applying there, which changes the meaning completely. it was my bad wording, ill give you that.

yeah i need to know this too…especially because im thinking of applying ED, is writing all that important to Brown, can someone who’s gotten in with a 730 and lower writing confirm this?

Don’t try and play the number game, you’ll be in for a rough surprise. I made the “mistake” of not retaking any SATs. If you have the chance and are really resolute on going to an Ivy League School or whatnot, use every opportunity to improve your score - you never know when a couple points could be a swaying factor over an alternative candidate. With that in mind, I got into Brown this year with a 690 on Writing (800 on other two sections though so take it with a grain of salt).
