So I’m really anxious about SDSU’s desicion about my application… I’m currently a senior in high school applying for Fall 2015. I have a 3.3 gpa, 24 act score, and 1040 sat. I also live in San Diego. I REALLLLLLYYYYY want to get in!! What are my chances and has anyone been admitted yet??
What’s your eligibility index? They use the eligibility index for admission since it’s not as holistic as the UCs.
My eligibility index is 3720 for SAT, and 910 for ACT
Intended major? Yes, SDSU has already admitted high Stat applicants in December. Check the accepted threads under College and Universitities/Alphabetical listing/S/San Diego State. More acceptances coming soon.
I put physics for my major. I also took regular physics, AP Physics B, and AP Physics C /E&M
I don’t think your stats will get you in. Sorry. Hopefully, you applied elsewhere.
SDSU is one of the most popular CSU’s and is REALLY competitive. It doesn’t sound like you are competitive for this school.
That being said, however, you do have an ace in the hole. If you are attending a San Diego county high school that has an agreement with SDSU, that could be your way in. You need to contact your guidance counselor. SDSU is very familiar with the caliber of local schools and will look at that as well as your history. Good luck!
I’m not in their service area or local range… I’m literally a block away from the cutoff
Wait, you are supposed to be in the area unless you are north of the 56, then you would have to stay on campus, but you should be still considered local.
I live in Rancho Penasquitos… I’m not living on campus though I’ll talk to them about that if I get accepted… I’m not worried about that right not I’m worried about getting in! Everyone being accepted has EIs of 4000+ and I don’t
If you are in RP, then you had to say that you will be staying on-campus or they won’t accept you. The 56 border is their cut-off.
Well my admission status is pending lol
@alfanier: If you are accepted there is an exemption for the Freshman on-campus living requirement:
Exemption requests will only be considered for those students who have been admitted to San Diego State University. To ensure timely consideration, requests must be submitted to the Office of Housing Administration no later than 30 days prior to the Intent to Enroll date for normally admitted students. For students admitted after the Intent to Enroll deadline, the exemption request must be made prior to occupancy, or the first day of enrollment, whichever comes first. Only one exemption request submission is allowed unless your circumstances have substantively changed and now meet the exemption criteria. Please select and provide supporting documentation for each status that applies to you. Requests received without documentation will not be considered.
The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) will evaluate your exemption request and documentation and determine whether or not an exemption will be granted. Students will be notified of the exemption request decision via both USPS mail and their email provided in WebPortal. Students who have their exemption request denied will have 14 days from the date of the denial to file an appeal to the Live-On Exemption Review Committee (LERC). Appeal letters can be mailed, faxed, or scanned and emailed to the Office of Housing Administration - see contact information below:

Thank you that’s very useful information. I’d rather go to community college than live in a dorm lol. But I’m not worried about that right now… my application is still pending and I’m stressing!
Gumbymom: Local kids from that corridor (rancho Pen) can’t get out of that housing requirement.
My kids went to one of the high schools in that area. The 56 freeway is the dividing line. Even though our house is below the 56, the high school is north of the 56, and the SDSU housing requirement applies. That’s because the kids’ other option is going north to CSU San Marcos and most kids don’t want to do that. It is just too far and has poor transportation routes. My kids were told they had to live on campus if they were accepted to SDSU because of the local requirement.
@aunt bea: SDSU does offer the application for exemption and I am assuming that if you have a compelling case, you could get out of the requirement. I do not know if they ever grant it, it was just an option I was giving the OP.
There are people who live in my area who got out of living in the dorms. I refuse to live in a dorm lolol
