The National Merit Scholarship Corporation sent me a letter that told me to give the names of two schools that I want my PSAT scores sent to.

If I am a reach for UT right now will it help my chances of acceptance to send them my scores or would it be a waste of a submission that I could have used to help me out somewhere else?

If you’re a National Merit Semifinalist or Finalist (218+), then it will significantly help your chances of acceptance. Just try to keep improving your class rank and you should be fine.

In my opinion, top 10% kids who are NM SF are solid admits even if the rules are tweaked a bit.

I am not in the top 10% i am in the top 24%, also I will not be a finalist or a semifinalist because my score was 210 but will that still help?

Can’t hurt but no, I don’t think that’s going to help particularly.
And that’s incredibly odd that someone with NMF-quality scores in the top 11% did not get in. Might I ask how the ECs and essays were?
