Will stanford penalize me if the teacher forms don't have my CommonApp ID?

Because alternate versions in commonapp have different commonapp IDs at the bottom of the page, I'm thinking of having my teachers fill out blank commonapp teacher forms to photocopy to different schools, rather than writing one form per ID per school.

I've called the schools i'm applying to, and all said they're okay with forms that don't have commonapp IDs.

However, on Stanford's application instructions, they keep repeating and emphasizing that all forms MUST have the commonapp ID at the bottom of each page. Will it hurt me if my teacher sends to Stanford the forms that doesn't have the commonapp ID?

Call them and let them know. It's easy to get them on the phone. You can also email them.

My advice is to contact Stanford, and stay in touch, to make sure all the parts of your application have actually been put in your file. My son's early application to Stanford 2 years ago was screwed up because of an discrepancy in first names used on the application vrs his teacher recommendations and transcript. His transcript was in 1 file, other parts were in another file, and a very important letter of recommendation from a Sr scientist he had worked with for 2 summers was lost entirely. If it can go wrong, it will, so I suggest you be very proactive , and make sure the admissions committee has what it needs to consider your application.

I think the reason Stanford states that in its website is because this year they will be deluged with lots of early applications. If you name is unique then it does not matter. But if there are 2 Joe Smiths from the same high school and they don't know which one is which, they have to relying on the common application ID.
