Will starting a club help business school chance

I'm looking to apply to Marshall at USC, and was wondering if starting a club will help. I read that they value leadership, and I think that creating a school club shows that. My club, however, is a dodgeball club, so it isn't exactly academic.

I started it at the beginning of this school year (junior), and we are now the biggest club/league in school (about 70-80 members out of around 180 students).

I originally came up with the idea and proposed it to some friends, and then we started to collect names of people who were interested. We brought it up to our vice principal and got it approved. I payed for the balls with my own money, and I am currently running the league with the help of one other junior and two sophomores (allowing the club to continue after I graduate).

I've seen some threads that say that colleges may view club start-ups as just a way to pad apps, but I'm really passionate about this club. Would this help out my chances for admission into USC?

Oh my god that is genius! Yes, starting a brand new and creative club that has had a positive impact at your school will increase your chances at Marshall, especially since it is clear that you are passionate.

My school is labeled as a “nerd school” because we have a strong focus on science and technology, so I wasn’t sure how the students, particularly the new class, would react. We have about the same amount of members from each grade, plus a few teachers.

One of my friends (the junior mentioned earlier) actually put this down in an application for an early college course at our local university, and got a scholarship (not sure how much) for it. I’m still amazed at the impact of it all.
