I am getting really worried that my subject test scores will hurt my chances of being admitted to Georgetown. I applied EA, and I know I am going up against very competitive applicants. I feel like I am getting sick from nerves. o________O;;;

In the big picture, will my SAT II's significantly damage my application???
I really don't mean to be troll-ish, I am just soooooo nervous. Like, I just puked a little I am nervous. XDD

The SAT IIs will certainly hurt, they are definitely below Gtown's expectations. The SAT math will as well. But, don't stress so much, it will all be fine in the end, and I think your class rank and academic record give you a chance at gtown.

Edit: I didn't see that you are a URM. You have a very good chance of acceptance.

What exactly IS Gtown's average acceptance for SAT II Subject Tests? My scores are slightly lower (Math II: 630, Lit: 630, and US: 640), but they are pretty much the only thing not good on my app.

Plus, some of the scores look better in a different light for me; for example, math is not my best subject (I got a 570 the first time around in Math II, so this should show improvement). Also, I got a 5 on the AP Test for US History, which could also back up my low score. And any problems with my writing/english skills would be seen in my essays, which are very good. What do you think?

These are my other stats, just for reference

well, i was also a URM, and my stats were extremely similar to yours....I had the same rank, a 1470 SAT (but I got 800 on writing), 6 AP's, higher GPA, slightly worse EC's

and I was deferred....but that being said, I DID NOT TAKE MY SATII's, so IDK....

^ Bigweight- Gtown is pretty stringent about the 3 SAT IIs, so that probably made them hesitant to accept you EA. You will probably get in regular.

As for Gtowns expectation on IIs, I would imagine they like mid to high 7s on everything.

Thanks JJJ. I have never been so nervous before in my life. It's like...everything that I have worked hard for is coming to an axis. I know I know I can only be deferred, but Georgetown is my number one. Even the idea of not being accepted is making me nauseous.

All I can do is pray and hope now. Thank goodness I won't be going back to school after I see the letter; good or bad.

I was accepted! I guess they didnt hurt my chances as much as I feared! Ahaha I fell on the ground from excitement! I'm a nervous wreck!!!

What exactly is a URM?

Underrepresented minority.

lol what if i'm ASIAN and has 800, 650, 630? w/2160 SAT reasoning?

rank: 11 (top 5%)
GPA 4.6 W

hardest schedule possible. senior yr 5 APs

ECs: officer for key club, math league, consumer bowl, newspaper
other clubs: NHS, FBLA, and teen pep (well not really a club...more like an organization)

if i'm shooting for SFS, should i just assume that i have no chance whatsoever?

I am living proof that so-so SAT II's (low-mid 600s) does not mean you will not be accepted!!!

I was totally convinced my 610 Chem SAT II was going to tip the point for my app, but it turned out great in the end! Granted I also had a 740 for USH, but it was still worrying

Oh, and don't stress TOO much on your Math score either. It wouldn't hurt to raise a few points, but I got in with a 650M and an 800Cr, so we're pretty similar.

my SAT reasoning are 670CR, 720M, and 770W

IIs are 800, 650, and 630 (i tried to retake this one and ended up w/10pts lower...and that was b/c i thought there were 50 questions when there were actually 90!!!)

i'm not the biggest EC person either as u can tell...plus, i'm chinese (talk about disadvantage)....

radar^^^ Aha me too! I should never have came to CC because all this talk of chances and scores got me all worked up. ;] But it turned out great in the end.

Now the issue of fin. aid.

I got accepted EA with a 730 lit and a 560 math....if that doesn't give people hope, idk what can.
My reasoning, though, was 800CR, 660M, 740W.
I'm pretty sure that IIs are the last thing admissions officers look at when making a decision; it's probably more important that one takes the initiative to take the subject tests.

Do you need SATII's?
