Hello, I plan on only submitting one subject test to BC. Will this hurt my chances? I have a Math II subject test score as well but it’s only a 660 so I really don’t want to submit that…
I got accepted early action and I didn’t submit any subject tests. It’s completely optional to submit them, so feel free to only submit the ones you think best reflect your ability.
Thanks @sophie9999. If you don’t mind me asking, what were some of your stats? (gpa, sat, ec)
GPA: 3.98 UW/4.23 W (I didn’t take the hardest available courses at my school due to medical complications my sophomore year)
ACT: 33
Extracurriculars: 2 sports (including team captain), 2 clubs (president of one of them), 200+ hours of volunteer related to my major, paid peer tutor
Essays: My admissions counselor hand wrote on my acceptance letter that they were “powerful”
Recommendations: I assume good, both teachers seem to like me and have had me for 2 years. (but who knows).
Also, I applied to the college of arts & sciences, so if you’re applying to to one of the other colleges it’ll be a little more competitive. Honestly, I think it was my essays that got me in, so really make sure those are good and show who you are. Good luck!
i sent in only one and i was accepted. it’s truly optional.
@sophie9999 - I would say your stats got you in. 3.98 UW/4.23 W and ACT 33 are outstanding. I am sure your essays were sound as well, but I don’t think you can read too much into them with those stats.
@Daddio3 Not sure I agree. For BC the middle 50% of ACT scores is 30 to 33. 81% of freshmen were in the top 10% of high school class. In addition, their EA applicant pool is more competitive. I don’t think my GPA/scores alone got me in. My point in responding to this thread was that SAT II’s are completely optional, and I didn’t think OP should send in a “weak” score.
I agree with your point on SAT IIs. But you said at the end your essays got you in and I don’t agree, though they may have been fabulous. If you are above the 75th percentile in GPA/rank and test scores for all but the most elite schools, you will probably be admitted.
