Will submitting SATII scores hurt my chances?

I am applying for this year's regular decision and I just took SATII in English, World History and Biology because two of my colleges require them. I messed up big time - I have literally guessed more than a half of all of them, because 1) these subjects at my school (international student) are so different in content to SATII 2) I didn't spend enough time preparing (my fault, I know :(). But I can still send these scores along with SATI scores to four colleges for free, and as money is quite an issue for me and I am already paying a lot with for application fees etc, I was thinking if I could submit SATII scores along with my SATI scores, even for the unis that don't require subject tests (as I didn't know where exactly I will be applying when I took SATI). My SAT I score is relatively alright (2210), but I'm not sure whether my chances for admission would be negatively influenced if I send along very low SATII scores (I doubt I will get above 600 for any of them, sadly). What do you think?

Depends on college. If it is one that requires subject tests, low scores will definitely hurt. However, there are many colleges that don’t use subject tests at all for admission even if submitted.

If I understand correctly… if a college to which I send the SATII scores doesn’t require subject tests, they won’t look at them at all in admissions (if they’re very low)?

It depends on the college - some won’t look at them because they don’t consider subject tests for admission into their school.

I would never recommend sending low SAT subject test scores to any school unless the school REQUIRES them and those are the only ones you have. Keep in mind that even if a school doesn’t require them, they may look at them and why give them a piece of information that could HURT your application? Example: you have good SAT scores, As in World History, English and Biology. But let’s say you get less than a 550 on each of the subject test… the college could wonder about the authenticity of your “A” at your school… they could wonder why you didn’t take the time to prepare for the subject tests, etc. Considering the majority of schools do not require SAT subject tests, the “cost” to you will only be for the handful of schools that you apply to that REQUIRE them… so my advice to you would NOT to send them even though they are free since you have no idea how poor the scores may end up being.

Thank you very much! I don’t think I’ll send them after all :)
