Will Switching Jobs Instantly Look BAD/Negative?

This has to do with my resume/application for the University of Texas at Austin.

So, I’ve been employed at Hard Eight BBQ (restaurant) since June. It’ll be about a month and a half soon.

I’m considering quitting Hard Eight BBQ for In-N-Out though. Two of my friends work there, and the starting pay was 10.50! After a few months, I can even be bumped up to 13. My pay at Hard Eight BBQ is 7.50. With a raise, 8. Max.

Will UT look at this negatively? Showing inconsistency, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

For career-oriented jobs, you would want to show consistency and loyalty. For entry-level jobs of this sort, you are expected to find the most convenient location, hours, pay, etc. Not a problem.

I just had a double-double yesterday

I agree; for low-paying entry-level jobs, that won’t matter much. But you’ve only been there for 1 1/2 months; quitting now might not look that great…

why should such a trivial thing matter? work experience is one EC you do, it doesn’t matter which of those employers to pick to them. You can even list is as

Work at Hard Eight BBQ/In and Out total 4 months

or whatever. Make sure you get the offer before quitting your job.

At this level, as long as you remain employed, switching jobs is fine. Put another way I wouldn’t sacrifice $2.50 an hour (with potential for more) for how I look on a college application.

Just make sure you have a firm offer (e.g. start date) for the second job before quitting the first job.

You don’t even have to list it on your application. I wouldn’t be stressed about this at all.
