Will taking 3, not 4, years of Spanish hurt me?

I took Spanish III freshman year, Spanish IV sophomore year, and AP Spanish V junior year. A's in all.

Will it look bad that I will not be taking Spanish VI senior year? It's not an AP course, and it has a very loose curriculum. Plus I took Spanish I and II in 7th and 8th grades, respectively, but these are not on my transcript. How will they know I took these? I know some schools want 4 yrs. language, is my sr. yr. schedule bad?

Finance/Econ major, Looking @ Dartmouth, Cornell, UVA, CMU, Pitt, maybe Georgetown, Penn, Notre Dame, Michigan.

if you took the AP spanish test, then colleges will know that you learned AP level material despite only three years of spanish in high school.

Are you sure those aren't on your transcript? The highschool courses I took in middle school are on my highschool transcript... but maybe you're school's just weird. =p

At my school, AP Spanish Language is followed by a year of AP Spanish Lit.

You might want to find a class in that, or check out the community colleges Spanish Lit classes.

I think the requirement for second language is the 3rd or 4th level of the language and not 3 or 4 years of high school.

So once you have taken spanish IV in 10th grade; you have maxed the requirment. Taking anyother spanish after that might not be useful unless you want to study it as a major.

You don't need 4 if you took the AP test...

You can ask your school to transfer high school grades in middle school to your high school transcript. Talk to the counselors; I think they'll have no reason to reject it as long as the syllabus was rigorous.

DUDE... i took TWO years of French in high school. i got into hopkins, conrell, and currently go to UMCP.
