I've heard from various sources that AP Stat is probably the most helpful "AP elective" for college. I have an empty slot in my senior schedule for next year, but I'm hesitant about filling it with AP Stat because I already have 5 other AP classes. If it is indeed as helpful as it is made out to be, I will take it, but I've also heard that it is one of the most boring classes ever, and can be hard depending on the teacher. Does anyone have any advice to offer? Thanks

If you’re majoring in a science major, passing the AP Stats exam with a 4 or 5 can get you out of college stats, which is part of your degree requirement. This applies to at least some school. I know that the UC schools do this for their students.

Talk Calc before Stats, but if you are already taking Calc or already have, then I would suggest taking Stats. From what I hear, it is not very hard.

AP Stat is useful for some majors. I plan to major in accounting and there is a stat class I need to take, which I plan to pass out of with the exam next month.

What if I plan on becoming a pre-med? Will AP Stat be helpful? Even if I don’t get credit for it, having taken a class may make the college class easier, won’t it? And puggly, yes, I am taking AP Calculus as well, so I’m even more hesitant about adding another math class (AP Stat)

I don’t know how far Stat will go toward becoming a pre-med. You should take it though, because it could come in handy somewhere. I wouldn’t be worried about adding AP Stat to AP Calc. I’m taking both at the same time, and all it does is make Stat seem much easier. And yes, taking an AP class and the college class after does make the college class easier as well. I had a friend take AP Micro in high school and then he took Econ in college. It was a lot easier for him than it was for those who had not taken the AP class.
