I’m applying to colleges next year and I’m extremely nervous about college admissions because I dual enroll at a community college as well as UF but I heard the top 20 colleges and ivies don’t like dual enrollment students so I was wondering if it lowers my chances. These are my stats so far:
5 AP Classes: 5 on APCS and 4 on AP English Lang, 3 on the rest
EC: HOSA President, Breast Cancer Awareness Club President, FBLA Secretary, Key Club Secretary, NHS Member, NSHS Member, NEHS Member, Varsity Lacrosse and Soccer, and Student Government Senator
Award: Academic Recognition and Excellence in Pre-IB Biology, HOSA Regional Dental Science 1st Place 2020, HOSA Regional Dental Science 1st Place 2021, HOSA Florida States Dental Science 1st Place 2021.
GPA: 3.97 UW and 4.98 W, I took 5 APs, 7 Pre-IB Honor classes, and so far I have 26 college credits from dual enrollment courses (ALL Gen-ED courses are done, Intro Chem and Chem 1)
SAT/ACT: I have a really low PSAT (1030) and low SAT which is 1150 (I didn’t study), but I have a 31 ACT score after retaking 3 times, and I might consider applying test optional.
I also have a part time job working at the Nail Salon and 350 volunteer hours.
My goal is to get into NYU, Johns Hopkins, Rice University, UF, and possibly 1 of the ivies?
Someone please give advice://
You heard wrong.
No.
But it really depends in what cc courses you are taking vs what is offered in the HS.
It really depends on which courses you took.
UF average UW GPA is 4.4 The average ACT is 30. Do not send SAT scores. UF may be a high match. Please take some time to check the statistics of accepted students this year at the schools you listed. Even with the college courses, and as noted above, depends upon what those courses were and the grades earned, the schools you listed are top heavy and reach. Don’t be caught up with prestige. Looks like you may be intending a health care career. Check schools you are interested in as being noted for having “weed out” courses or a “cut throat” reputation. Cost is a huge factor for undergrad. if you plan to attend a professional grad program like medicine or dental. Sounds like you are instate for FL. Best of luck with your search.
