Ok, here's my situation. During senior year, I took two semesters of freshmen chemistry at Wesleyan University. First half, I did great and got an A. Second semester, I started off very strong but got progressively worst as senioritis set it. I ended up with a B+ but would have gotten much worse if I had to take the final (made optional due to a murder on campus). In other words, I learned very little second semester. There would be no possible way I could move on to organic chemisry; i would completely bomb it and destroy my GPA. When I presented my credits to my college (GWU), they said that in all liklihood, I would have to take general chemistry over due to the fact GWU requires a lab and Wesleyan did not. I really never followed up on this and just decided to take General Chemistry again. Will this end up hurting my chances for medical school.

Actually you don’t really need much gen chem for organic. Are you good with lewis structures and oxidation states?

I would just move on to organic (be prepared to study HARD, it’s a whole new subject!)

If you did not take labs, you must retake general chemistry for both semesters, or at least take the labs. You will not hurt your chances if you retake general chemistry, and it will make your transition to college easier than if you went straight into O-chem.

That’s true, you need to have a lab with it. So you will probably need to retake.
