I started my first week at college and i am taking precalculus, because the score i made on the accuplacer was decent enough to be placed in precalculus and not calculus 1, like most other science majors start off with. Ive already taken precalc in my senior year in high school, and i find this to be a waste of time. I plan to major in computer engineering and I currently attend community college aiming to transfer next year. The problem is being in calc 1 next semester, I cant take university physics til next year because calculus is required as a pre req to physics, not a coreq. this means that ill have to take calc. 2, and physics 1 next year, when im supposed to be in linear algebra, and physics 2. I also dont know if this is going to affect me from taking the other courses that i will be required to take next year such as eeng, and engr. because im not sure if i have to have calc. 2 and physics done before starting those. Ill send a link to the transfer guide and course description below. Its a pdf file, so youll have to click 2015-2016 and it will be a quick download. please let me know what to do
Sure it affects it, but catching up over the summer may be an option. Look at your U’s summer offerings, as well as local community colleges. Talk to an advisor about your four-year plan.
Make sure to take advantage of summer sessions.
If your school offers calc II in the summer, then there’s no super rush. In fact, if your school has two consecutive sessions which offer the math sequence, you might even be able to get ahead.
Either way, take advantage of summer classes.
