Hi! I’m a junior looking into Brown, UCB, and UVA for colleges (I’m applying to less selective schools too–those are just my ‘dream’ schools). However, freshman year, I got a B- in Honors Geometry, which is the only non-A I’ve ever received. As a result, I took academic (regular) Algebra II and Pre-Calc, although I got/have A+'s in both of them. I also took academic French I freshman year, but only because my school doesn’t offer honors French I. Everything else is honors or AP.
I’m worried that this will be seen as coasting?? Not only do I take ‘easy’ classes, but I do decent in them–my AlgII told me I should be in Honors Pre-Calc, she just couldn’t reccomend me from academic.
For reference, I think I have a kind of hard schedule (AP Lang, APUSH, AP Bio, Honors Physics, Honors French III, Pre-Calc) compared to most of my friends, less than half of my school participates in AP and about 6% participate in 3 or more tests. I don’t want to major in math or science either–I want to be an English/Journalism major.
Will I still be a competitive candidate?
