Will taking "soft" classes hurt my chances at MS&E?

Hi all, I'm an econ major at Princeton interested in applying to Stanford Masters in MS&E. I will be applying at the end of this year. I have a few questions:

1) What majors do they look for, do econ majors have a good chance?

2) My econ major courses are by and large quantitative oriented. I'm trying to decide 4 courses for this Spring term, which may be quite crucial for my application. I have made up my mind for 2 of the courses, both of which are quantitative (macroeconomics and applied econometrics). However, to balance my workload, I am looking to take 2 other "soft" classes, both in ethics (one is an econ departmental "ethics and economics" ,the other is a public policy course "ethics and public policy"). In addition, I will be doing a short independent empirical research paper in econ. Is this advisable? I am worried that the soft classes may hurt me. Does it also look bad to take 2 ethics courses at the same time - does it look repetitive?

Other information: My cumulative GPA so far is 3.96, but I haven't taken my GRE yet.

Thanks all!
