I’ve run into a bit of a situation with class scheduling. This year I decided to talk half of my classes as college classes through our school’s PSEO program, and half at our high school. I planned on taking college chemistry at our college second semester, because it would cover a full year of high school credits. I wanted to take it first semester online, but my was very strong about not wanting me to do this and that it would be better if I took it in class when it was available second semester. The only time I don’t have classes at the college or the high school is during the end of the day, and she told me that it would be fine and there would be a class open then. Flash forward to now, she messed me up and there ended up being no chemistry class available when I can take it, nor one online. If I’m not able to find a chemistry class online at some other school and get it approved to take, I will have no chemistry on my transcript. I still want four years of science though, so if this doesn’t work out, I will take another biology class. When it comes to college admissions, I will have Honors Physical Science, AP Biology, some other college biology class, and College Physics and Lab. Will not having chemistry and having two years of biology instead hurt my admission chances for very selective colleges?
Most selective colleges prefer to see bio, physics, and chemistry on the transcript. Perhaps your guidance counselor could explain the scheduling problem succinctly in his/her LOR to colleges.
