My friend gave me his old 2007 SAT prep guide by Kaplan, and it's challenging enough. It has 12 practice tests if I'm not mistaken, and I've been learning a lot from it. I'm trying to decide whether I should buy the Online Prep Course (70 USD) or the latest prep book (30 USD, I think). Any information about either that you can give me would be great.

kaplan sucks. do not use it for practice tests or studying for that matter.

buy collegeboard books. you can use last year’s version too.

once again, no kaplan, yes collegeboard.

(use barrons or gruber for studying)

Okay, well, could you explain why it “sucks”? It seems to be thorough to me. Also, which would be more efficient; using the prep + the book I have now, or just the newer book. 'Cause I can’t do both (course and new book). It seems that the course subscription only lasts four months… seems kind of pricy in that case. Any other opinions would be great.

well, okay, use it for studying if you really want to. but definitely don’t do the online course. ive done one similar, and it was unhelpful.

the reason you should not do the practice tests in the book is because many question are on a different difficulty level and written in a different style. one may argue “well at least i’m learning the material!”. well, you probably already know the material, and the main purpose of doing the tests is to get used to wording collegeboard uses.

once again again, use the the collegeboard book for the practice. (its worth the 5$) (its only five dollars for the old edition - which is perfectly fine)

also, dont waste money on the newer book
