This year, UofI listed my cost of attendance to be $28,8666. That meant that I could take loans up to that amount. However$8,764.00 of that amount was for Room and Board in the dorms. I am trying to join a fraternity, though, and will hopefully live in their fraternity house next year. Will the cost of living in the frat house be included in my listed "cost of attendance" or would it be left out, meaning I would have to foot the bill for the fraternity myself?

A room and board figure should still be included in the COA. It will probably still be the same as the averaged room and board included for the dorms which may or may not accurately reflect your actual costs. My daughter (different school) lives in an off campus apartment and her COA is the same as if she was living on campus. Ask your financial aid department what affect it might have. They are generally quite willing to answer questions of this nature.

I tried to calling financial aid by phone, but theyre only open 9-5 on weekdays. So I just emailed them and I’ll hopefully get a reply in a few days, If not, i’ll try calling again next week.
