I am just wondering for those who didnt apply for FA and got waitlisted.
would the people without FA drop out of a school even if they were accepted?
is the economy going to change anything?
im specifically wondering about Andover.
do you think that because the economy's down in the dumps, they may resort to people they have rejected/waitlisted?
please contribute your input on this :D
thanks!!

..Sorry but they will never resort to rejected. Its not that bad..life goes on.

bump? [10 char]

Answer is the same... If you are rejected wait for the next application season.

Best of luck!

No one will really know what will happen until April. Calculations for what the economy will do to yield have been considered already in the number accepted. They could well be off as we've never seen a global downturn like this, but we won't know until April.

One thing to consider is that many schools would be happy to welcome another full pay student. You should contact other schools that interest you beyond the very top ones and ask if you may still apply.

bump please!

They have many many many many many people on their waitlist. They will have a smaller class before they go to rejected. What would that show future applicants? That not enough people liked their school enough to go; that they would have to resort to rejected? My advice would be to focus on the next admissions cycle.

I go to Choate, and I know that all boarding schools (including ours) are affected by the economy in SOME way. We've been told that they aren't going to dip into the FA. But ... as to your question as to 'would people w/o FA drop out of a school'...that's a pretty easy one to answer. If they don't have the means to go there, then that's a tough choice. I know that it's hard to give FA to WLed students, though. By that time, most of the FA has been given to students that have already accepted.

Classicgirll...you really need to accept the fact that you were rejected and moved on. They have a waitlist and when and if they need to accept more students, it will be from the waitlist. They're not going to go back to the rejected pool.
