So I took the ACT in February, April, and June, and got a composite score of 26, 27, and 31, respectively.

I know 31 is still rather low for HYPS and what not, but I am proud of it nevertheless, especially since I thought I did terribly.

Assume my recs, ec's, grades, rigor, etc. are superb, what can you tell me?

(3.9/4.6 gpa, white male, low income)

Extra info ^^^^

The jump is nice, but I don’t think the jump is enough. Even if the rest of your app is solid, you want to have the best shot at being accepted, and that’s only possible with ~ 33+ on the ACT

First off Congratulations on the improvement of your ACT scores! As it relates to consideration at the schools you have mentioned is that these schools have so many applicants with incredible stats that in the absence of something else that is really compelling about you and your circumstances the 31 ACT is not likely going to be sufficient. Your coming from a low income household helps especially so if you are a first generation college student but they are likely to have many excellent students applying coming from circumstances similar to your own. I would never discourage anyone from going for it, your life, your dreams! Logically unless there is some unique hook that you have I would think your score would need to be higher. You have an excellent GPA, if your rec letters and essays are excellent and your EC’s are really solid you have a shot. Best of luck!

I wouldn’t call it significant, but it’s a good jump.

Let’s just say that there’s a correlation between your test scores and how attractive you have to portray yourself on your application. If you have a 31, generally you probably have to have some redeeming trait or quality that makes them choose you over a person with a 35. But this trend doesn’t work between insignificant differnces like a 34 and 35.

I donn’t think it’s out of the possibility that you can get into Ivy, but as for all of the studnets, it will be challenging.

bump 10char? please guys
