Hi everyone, I am graduating in 2018 and am wondering if Carnegie Mellon, the UC’s, and the ivy leagues will accept either SAT (the new redesigned one or the old one)?
Yale won’t accept the old SAT for '18 grads.
Yale has now changed to allow the old SAT test for those starting in 2018 and it is the entry class of 2019 that will not be allowed to submit the old SAT. Other ivies, Carnegie Mellon and the UCs have not yet announced how long they will continue to accept the pre-March 2016 test.
Probably best for current sophomores not to bother with the current sat. The only school so far that has clearly said they won’t accept it for current juniors is Va Tech. Who knows if this will change.
It does not make sense not to accept any test score taken within high school years. However, it would be wise to skip the old SAT format and prepare for ACT or the new SAT. There are not many old SAT upcoming anyway.
Yale is making the SAT subject tests optional, but I’d still recommend taking them.
thanks, so when will the old SAT stop being offered around the country? So, won’t I have to take the new SAT anyways because college board will stop offering the old SAT?
Great to hear–thanks! I’m not surprised; the previous policy was unreasonable.
As to the question above about when College Board will cease giving the current SAT, the answer is January 2016 will be the last time to take the existing SAT and beginning with the next test date in March 2016 the new one will be given.
Correct, drusba. And Collegeboard has been pretty clear with this. Checking their website provides this information. Its amazing how many ( I believe the reported # was 85 % of parents) as of late August, werent aware of the upcoming changes, and when they were going into effect
@drusba ok thanks
