Next year, I will be applying to MIT. I have a ton of amazing, varied extracurriculars and reasonably prestigious internships (don't want to go into too much detail for the sake of anonymity). I love the environment at MIT, and would love to go there, however...
I got a B+ in chemistry sophomore year, and a B in BC Calculus this year. I go to TJHSST where there is significant grade deflation, and I'm sure the office of admissions at MIT knows that. My math grade is the one I am most worried about. Though I understand the concepts perfectly, I tend to make silly mistakes. I have tried my best to show my passion for the subject in other ways. For example, did reasonably well on AIME and got the top 1% honor roll on AMC 12. Will these B's keep me out of MIT? If not, how much will they harm my chances? Sorry if I sound pretentious, I'm really just worried and trying to tell you about myself. Thanks in advance!!:)

It will be reflected in your GPA. How is your uw GPA?

It should be about 3.9ish?

How are your subject tests? Math2 and a science are required. If you do very well in those, that would compensate for the B grades in those classes and indicates the deflation of grades at your school. Since around 11% students get 800 in Math2, you know what you should aim for. The curve is generous enough and allow several mistakes.

My Sat Scores: 800 Reading, 800 Math, 740 Writing
Math 2: 800
Biology M: 800

Then I would say it should be fine. However, you know MIT is extremely competitive. So make sure you apply to other schools too.
