Hi,
I am currently a new senior, my 11th marks were pretty good, but my math marks were only 55 in finals and in overall it became around 62,cs-88,phy-86,phy edu-95,chem-74,english-83...my aggregate percentage is 82.6 with 2nd position in my class. I want to major in CS. Soon I'm going to give my TOEFL, ACT and SAT-2's...not giving AP due to some problem. Will these marks screw up my chances for getting admission into EECS at UC Berkeley, GeorgiaTech, HYPSC,CMU,Penn...not counting MIT because it's impossible....and even I got my rejection email now from Summer Science Program(SSP)??? Please Answer ... any help will be most appreciated! Thank you

Short answer: yes (or maybe, unless you have an excellent SAT Math + good math score in boards)

Long answer: I believe this has been said before, but their adcoms are aware of the fact that a low Indian percentage (should) convert into a high grade (in their system.) But with so many talented Indians applying, you can be sure that there’s going to be someone with much better scores than you. And when it comes to comparing two highly qualified candidates, they will definitely dig into what your exact percentage is.

No it will not. But these programs are all highly selective.

You were competing for 1 of 72 spots, with only a few going to intl students. You should have assumed that you would be rejected the moment you sent your application.

Thank you for your opinions, my friends.

Hello don’t worry your scores are pretty good for usa universities but the colleges you mentioned are all top 10
And are very selective …
Another point is do you need financial aid ? That might be a factor too

yes, I need some financial aid but without aid it willl be also fine…and thanks @christophernolan, my dream is to get into UC Berkeley EECS… :)
