Will they consider me "high achieving"?

Income ~16,000
EFC zero probably. 0 assets.

My GPA isn't so great.
This is some form of personal resentment though: I know I could've gotten straight A's at a normal high school, but I go to an extremely competitive NYC public school. As a result, my grades aren't so great.

I'm wondering if Questbridge will take that into consideration when they're looking at my Cs.

I've been through alot of stuff during high school as well.
I'm applying for Questbridge College Prep. I wrote my "moral/ethical decision" essay about how I called the police to arrest my abusive father, but my mom can't see how I was helping the family and resents me for it. In the end, I talk about how I'm determined to show her that what I did was for our benefit and how my difficulties in life have made me determined to succeed in the future.

My GPA is crappy, its an 89, but my school doesnt actually calculate it (instead, they send a transcript of my semester letter grades).

My PLAN score translates to a 31 on the ACT
I'm planning to take the SATs in March in the hopes of getting 2100+

Do you think QB would take into consideration the fact that I go to a really competitive high school? :(

There is a section to explain your academic performance although I don’t think it’s strategic to point out how competitive your high school was. Everything IS relative though and ALL colleges will look at your GPA in light of your school’s profile.

Go for it! I think you have come far, and will continue to do well in school despite all these challenges. Hopefully, QB will too. I also hope you’re able to convey your story through your application well.
