I switched from my local private Catholic high school to the public high school junior year. In doing so, my grades from the old school were not weighted when they were put on my current school's transcript. Since my school uses weighted GPA for class rank, I'm only 19 out of 526 kids in my class, which puts me somewhere in the top 4%. I've taken the most rigorous, and even beyond the most rigorous, course load one can take at my school. My weighted GPA is 4.25, while those of the people in the top 1% are >4.45%, but my unweighted GPA is 3.96, which is definitely one of the highest. I'm just a bit worried that my rank/GPA won't look especially attractive when I apply, especially since I'm only coming from a meh school in a meh town in rural Illinois.

If my counselor makes a note of this on the application, will the adcoms take it into account when looking at it?

Thank you.
